#IamnotfastingonJune8

Its amazing how "civil society" has decided to abandon the engagement with our elected government and instead chosen to return to their "Satyagrah". Its almost like a spoiled child refusing to eat unless his parents give into his demands. Twitterverse is teeming with people supporting Anna Hazare's fast tomorrow and here are 7 things i think these selfless individuals can do to augment their sacrifice of giving up food for a day -

1. Contribute to ipaidabribe.com and help those who have to eat their breakfast so they can spend the day in line to get their birth certificate/drivers license/pick your government document.

2. Give up paying any sort of bribe for a month- this includes the bribe you pay to that cop not to tow your new car away while you sit in vigil @ jantar mantar.

3. For those at home - Mid way through the day of fasting, when hunger hits you like a ton of bricks and the power cut forces you out of your air conditioned room , READ the lokpal bill with a critical eye and come up with at least three things that you would change.

5. Buy that new cooler stuffed with water to beat the delhi heat with your credit/debit card and pay your fair share of VAT.

6. Spend the evening tutoring the underprivelaged children admitted into the rich delhi schools in your neighbourhood and teach them about the harmful effects of corruption. Be sure to include the loss of economic productivity due to your own personal sacrifice.

7. Drop in on your local counsellor on your way home and give him a list of ten things he should do for your neighbourhood. Let him know you were fasting for each of those ten things. Nothing needed? Happy with his work? How about you drop in a small donation for his reelection? Maybe a day's salary that you got despite taking the day off?
